Dreslinski has played four different positions in her career, before settling in as the starting shortstop last year. She has always done whatever the team has asked of her on the field and has been a player who has always set the tone with her work ethic in practice. She is a person of tremendous character, and has been one of the players who has had a leadership role in the softball team’s community activities.
Community
Dreslinski has had a leadership role in the softball team’s Adopt-A-Family food drive for Thanksgiving and Christmas. She has volunteered with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program on Long Island, and has also been involved with the Special Olympics. She also frequently participates as a reader in the local Head Start Day Care program. Back home in Ohio, she has frequently volunteered at her local church soup kitchen for years.
Competition
Dreslinski has been a key part of a Hofstra Softball program that became the first Division I softball program to ever win 10 straight conference titles last year. She has been a part of three Colonial Athletic Association championship teams in her first three seasons (the program’s 8th, 9th and 10th straight titles - including six in the CAA and four in the America East), and closed out her junior campaign by homering in all three games of the 2007 NCAA Regionals. Dreslinski is a two-time All-Colonial Athletic Association selection, and was named to the CAA All-Tournament team last year. She led the team with nine homers last year. She was second on the team in 2007 with 39 RBI and third in 2006 with 36 RBI. She has had clutch hits throughout her career, including a homer in the 2006 CAA championship game and a two-run triple in the 2005 CAA championship game.
