Classroom

Sagi Lev-Ari is a finance major with a 3.0 GPA. He is on track to graduate this spring and hopes to pursue a career in business when his soccer days are over.

Character

“I am very hardworking, I will always do my very best when it comes to achieving something I want. Family life in Israel was a very good time for me. They always supported me in soccer even though none of my family are big soccer fans. My service in the IDF lasted 3 years and was a difficult time but I enjoyed it and it taught me a lot about life. It enabled me to become a man, as I had to act responsibly from a very young age. Last but not least, I believe it helped me to become a captain on the field, as it allowed me to develop my leadership skills greatly.”

Community

“I have coached disabled children a number of times while helping them to succeed both academically and on the soccer field. I like to keep in touch with most of them to see how they’re doing and they still come to CSUN’s games on a weekly basis.”

Competition

Sagi Lev-Ari added to his already legendary CSUN career by becoming the first Matador All-American since 2005. He scored 16 goals and had six assists for 38 points in his second year with the team. Lev-Ari was also named to the All-Big West Conference First Team, the NSCAA All-Far West Region First Team, the CollegeSportsMadness.com All-American Team, was a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy and a finalist for Soccer News Net’s College Boot award. With 38 points in 2013, he produced the highest total for the Matadors since in 1998. When he recorded at least one point in a match in 2013, the Matadors went 11-1-0 and he had at least three points in a match six times. His 16 goals tied for seventh in a single season in the school record book while his point total tied for ninth. Lev-Ari produced a pair of hat tricks, including in the Big West Tournament Semifinal at UC Santa Barbara. He had multi-goal games against Memphis (3), Central Arkansas (2), and Cal Poly twice (both 2). In the Big West Tournament, Lev-Ari scored five goals in three matches, a tournament record, to go into the NCAA Tournament as the leading scorer in the country.
