Character

This summer Condon volunteered a week of her time to be a companion at Camp Quality, a camp where kids with cancer get to be kids again. Each companion gets paired with a child who is battling cancer, and their duty is to dedicate their time and energy to care for the child and make camp the best experience possible. Through this week she built a relationship with a camper and their family that will continue long after camp is done.

Community

Condon has been a member of the Oakland University Love Your Melon Campus Crew for two years now. LYM’s mission is to give a hat to every child battling cancer as well as partner with nonprofit organizations who support the fight for the cure. Through this crew she has not only spread the word and raised money for this cause, but has gone on superhero visits and hospital donations. Through these, the team was able to deliver the hats to the children at the hospitals and also take a child who is battling cancer out for a day they will never forget. As a freshman, she partnered with OU CARES, where she connected with the participants and taught them social skills by spending time with them in a social setting.

Condon has participated in March Reading Month every year since being an Oakland student-athlete, reading to elementary school classes. Additionally, she volunteered her time to help out and cheer on the runners at the Susan G. Komen 3-day Walk for the Cure for two years in a row.

Oakland Volleyball also partners with Team Impact through which they got their wonderful teammate, Hannah Roddis. Team Impact’s goal is to help kids facing a life-threatening or chronic illness through the power of being a part of a team. The team participates in monthly activities with their teammate. Condon has also participated in the OU Day of Service every semester since being a student at Oakland. Additionally, Oakland Volleyball volunteers a few times a year at the Boys and Girls Club of SE Michigan. They volunteer their time to teach the kids at the club how to play volleyball and also volunteer at their end of the year party to help set up, tear down and serve food.
