Classroom

Scott Thomsen has twice been named to the ACC All-Academic Men’s Soccer Team. He has earned ACC Academic Honor Roll distinction all three years and has been named to UVa’s Athletic Honor Roll. Thomsen is on track to graduate in May with a bachelor’s degree in foreign affairs.

Character

Thomsen is a solid and respected leader in the Cavaliers’ soccer program and has participated in UVa’s SAMs program (Student-Athlete Mentors).

Community

Thomsen has participated in work with the Special Olympics and is part of UVa’s Paseo community outreach program. He also is a member of Athletes for Hope at UVa and volunteers for the After School Sports Club at Cale Elementary School.

Competition

Scott Thomsen leads all active Cavaliers with 18 career assists and, entering his senior season, needed four assists to reach the top 10 all-time at UVa. He was tied for third in ACC and 14th nationally with eight assists in 2014. He is a three-year starter for UVa at defender and midfielder and was a starter and key member on UVa’s NCAA Championship team in 2014. As part of the PK shootout during the 2014 NCAA Quarterfinals, Thomsen converted a penalty kick to help send UVa to the NCAA College Cup.
