Classroom

Richey maintains a 3.21 GPA while majoring in communication and was named honorable mention Pac-12 All-Academic in 2012 and 2011.

Character

Richey is the captain of the UW soccer team. A vocal leader from the back as the goalkeeper he is considered one of the hardest workers on the team.

Community

Richey volunteered at the local children’s hospital while in Birmingham for UAB’s Soccer for the Cure tournament. Has also volunteered at the Seattle Children’s Hospital in 2011, working with kids receiving cancer treatment. Volunteers with UW’s Coins for Kids program, collecting funds for underprivileged kids at UW sporting events. Volunteered with Side by Side, a Seattle program that raises money for families to visit their kids in Seattle who are there receiving treatment for cancer and with UW Environmental groups to clean up local parks.

Competition

Richey will be starting goalkeeper for fourth straight season. He was named to the First-Team All-Pac-12, All-Far West Second Team in 2012 and ranked the second best player in the Pac-12 by Top Drawer Soccer in the final postseason rankings in 2012. He was named the 20th best upperclassmen by TDS in 2012 and second-team on the Team of the Season by Top Drawer Soccer in 2012. He ranked 36th in the NCAA in GAA (0.854), 61st in save percentage (0.782) and 82nd in total saves (68) in 2012. Also named the College Sports Madness Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year and the first-team goalkeeper in 2012.
