Classroom

Since coming to LMU, Baduria has continued to be a leader in the classroom. She was a member of the NSCAA Academic All-Region Teams in 2006-07 and 2007-08 and was named to the West Coast Conference All-Academic Team in 2007-08. In May of 2008, she graduated with a degree in Liberal Studies and has returned to LMU for a fifth year, in which she is pursuing a Masters in Education. Stefanie carried a cumulative GPA of 3.48 as an undergraduate and plans a career in teaching after she completes her Masters.

Character

Nothing speaks of a person’s character as much as how they deal with adversity. Having overcome two season-ending knee injuries to return and play high-level Division I soccer takes an inordinate amount of determination and courage. Baduria has not only returned to the field, she has excelled and never used her injuries as excuses. As a team captain, she leads by example and provides a psychological lift for the rest of her teammates, who witness her strength and toughness on a daily basis. After shedding her knee brace in 2008 to anchor the Lion midfield, Stefanie unfortunately suffered another season-ending injury. Still, she has contributed to the team’s success in other ways by being a leader off the field and on the sidelines, helping LMU to another winning season.

Community

Stefanie is actively involved in service, regularly spending time tutoring students one-on-one at both Edison Elementary School and Loyola Village Elementary Schools. She has also volunteered as a coach in LMU’s Special Games program each of the last three years, as well as helping run LMU soccer camps and clinics for home-schooled children in the Los Angeles area.

Competition

Despite all of her injuries, Stefanie Baduria has excelled on the field. As a junior in 2007, she started 17 games and was an anchor in the midfield, earning Honorable Mention All-WCC status, as well as places on the WCC All-Academic Team and the NSCAA/adidas Academic All-Region Second Team.
