Steven Kinney

Classroom

Kinney has a 3.73 grade point average as an accounting major with a business administration minor. He has made the Dean’s List four semesters and was named an NSCAA/adidas College Scholar All-American. He is a member of the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and is an Academic All-Southern Conference member.

Character

Kinney is a three-year member of the Elon University Men’s Soccer Leadership Team and is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Community

Kinney has volunteered with the Burlington Soccer Club, coaching youth soccer clinics and training children to develop their soccer abilities. He took part in a mission trip to Honduras to help underprivileged children, helping assemble homes as well as a school and raising funds to help sponsor youth.

Competition

Kinney is a three-year starting defender for the Elon men’s soccer team. He was named first-team All-Southern Conference in 2007 and 2008 and was recognized as a member of the 2008 Southern Conference All-Tournament team. He earned second-team NSCAA All-South Region honors in 2007 and 2008. He helped the 2008 squad to the program’s first-ever Southern Conference regular-season title, posting an undefeated 7-0-0 record in league action. He contributed to the team’s seven shutout performances in both 2007 and 2008 and has tallied five career goals and four career assists from his defender position.
