Classroom

Stinson has excelled as an exercise science major at Illinois State, maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA through her first three years.  She is a two-time CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District V selection, Missouri Valley Conference Elite 18 Award winner (given to the student-athlete with the highest GPA at each championship), MVC Commissioner’s Academic Excellence Award recipient and MVC Scholar-Athlete Team choice.  Stinson has been named to ISU’s AFNI Honor Roll all six semesters, in addition to the MVC Honor Roll three times.

Character

Ever since setting foot on the ISU campus, Stinson’s attitude and leadership have positively impacted the Redbird soccer team and campus as a whole.  Stinson is entering her third-consecutive year as a team captain, being first voted a captain her sophomore year.  She has led the Redbirds to back-to-back Missouri Valley Conference Tournament crowns and NCAA Tournament appearances in 2012 and 2011, the first such stretch in school history, as well as a MVC Regular Season crown in 2011.

Community

Stinson is actively involved in a number of community activities both at ISU and near her home of Kalamazoo, Mich.  At ISU, she has been involved with Curb Birds, a program that helps new freshmen move in, the Scott Early Learning Center, where she reads to DCFS children, Home Sweet Homes, a program designed to sort clothes and donated items, and Just Read, where she reads to elementary school children and explains the importance of school.  She also traveled with her local church in Portage, Mich., to El Salvador the summer after her freshman season, where Stinson and three others helped set up a government system.  For her community efforts, Stinson was given the Missouri Valley Conference Good Neighbor Award in 2012.

Competition

Stinson has been a mainstay in the Redbird lineup in her previous three seasons, starting a total of 48 contests.  She is a three-time All-Missouri Valley Conference selection, two of them first team choices, in addition to being named to the NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region Second Team in 2011.  Stinson has tallied 10 goals and 13 assists, ranking third on the program’s all-time list in the latter category.  With Stinson maintaining the midfield, the Redbirds have posted two of the program’s three highest goal tallies the past two seasons.
