Phyfe is a double major at Northern Iowa, where he carries a 3.66 GPA. He is pursuing degrees in both elementary and middle level education.
He has been named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and is a three-time Dean’s List selection. Phyfe has also been named a two-time MVC first team Scholar-Athlete.
Character
Struggling with health issues, Phyfe did not play the year before the pandemic. He was sent to Mayo Hospitals in Rochester, Minnesota, for help and his since recovered.
He now battles lingering effects from COVID but continues to lead the team in many statistical categories.
Community
Phyfe is an engaged member of the community at Northern Iowa.
He goes to Waverly, where he helps with basketball workouts and visits local elementary schools. Phyfe also serves a pen pal and reads to children in the Cedar Valley area. Additionally, Phyfe participates in Adopt a Panther, where he goes around to schools and talks about what it takes to be a good teammate.
Competition
Phyfe has enjoyed a career of success on the court at Northern Iowa. He is a two-time All-MVC selection, earning first team honors in 2019-20.
