Keith is a member of the USAFA iGEM, a synthetic biology team. They are finishing up this year’s research to present at the iGEM international competition in October (the project is on Delftia acidovorans Dehalogenase Characterization and Optimization for Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) Degradation)

She also completed a Cadet Summer Research Program with the 10th Med Group this summer.

Character

Keith is a two-time team captain for the Falcons.

She has held several leadership positions at Air Force. Keith was an Element Leader during Interpersonal Leadership Training over the summer and is currently the Academic NCOIC for her squadron.

Community

Keith is a member of Air Force’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee, where she attended monthly meetings to bring any concerns or triumphs from the team. They also discussed ways to promote opportunity and help student athletes through college life.

Keith is a volunteer at Marian House, a soup kitchen in downtown Colorado Springs. Along with her teammates, she cooks and serves food to those in need and then clean up the kitchen. She is actively involved in tutoring other Cadets, including freshman in her squadron and on the team in general chemistry and calculus. Keith also helps her peers in mechanical and electrical engineering.

Keith and her teammates hosted a free youth volleyball clinic and a free youth all-sport clinic for kids in the Colorado Springs area. She has also assisted the USAFA Department of Law in a Capstone Course as a Volunteer Expert Witness. Playing the role of a neurosurgeon, Keith used biochemistry knowledge and outside research to testify in a sexual assault case.

Competition

Keith was Air Force’s MVP and was named to the All-Mountain West Team last season.

She has been an all-tournament selection twice and earned the conference’s Offensive Player of the Week Award once.

Keith has been the only player to have played in every set during each of the last two years, as she led the team in kills in both campaigns.
