Classroom
Koenigsfeld maintains a 3.62 GPA in American law and legal studies and he’s currently working on a thesis — a legal review of a high-energy laser weapon system. In 2010 he was the Patriot League Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was named third-team ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA academic All-American. Koenigsfeld has been on the Dean’s List all seven semesters at West Point.
Character
Koenigsfeld is a team captain for the second straight season and he has also served as a team tutor for various classes.
Community
Koenigsfeld gave up Thanksgiving break this past fall to take mission trip to Nicaragua, where he helped build homes.
Competition
Koenigsfeld became the first player in Patriot League history to earn first-team all-conference honors at two different positions (pitcher and outfield) in the same season following his sophomore campaign. He also was chose Patriot League Pitcher of the Year after that season and added to his list of achievements as a junior with another first-team all-conference selection (outfield). Last spring he was named to the watch list for the inaugural Olerud Award, presented to the nation’s top dual-position player. He boasts an overall record of 17-10 with a 5.17 ERA and 155 strikeouts. As a junior he hit .359 with 10 doubles, 24 runs and 33 RBI. He enters his senior season as one of Collegiate Baseball Magazine’s top players to watch.
