Ben Miller

Classroom

Ben Miller excels in the classroom, earning Academic All-Big Ten in 2015 and 2016, and Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in Fall 2013, 2015, 2016, and Spring 2016 honors. He has also received Nebraska Honors (Bronze), Academic Medallion in 2015 and 2016, and dean’s list for the College of Engineering (Fall 2013) accolades.

Character

Miller is a team representative on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, an Inner Circle Leadership Group participant and took part in the Senior Management Team Luncheon in 2016.

Community

A Nebraska Tom Osborne Citizenship Team recipient in 2016 and Team Life Skills Award of Excellence volunteer, Miller has participated in a variety of community service initiatives including Madonna Rehabilitation Center (2013-Present), American Red Cross Fundraisers (2013-Present), and Lincoln Area Hospitals (2013-Present). He has also participated with the Lincoln Public Schools Fun Nights/Carnivals (2013-Present), Area Youth Baseball Teams (2013-Present), food drive (2017), Boo at the Bob (2016), Elkhorn Valley Schools (2016), Crayon Drive (2016), Life Skills Theatre (2015), Shop with a Jock (2015) and Husker Heroes (2013).

Competition

A 2016 MLB Draft Pick for the Pittsburgh Pirates, 32nd Round, Miller has earned three letters in 2014, 2015, 2016 and third-team All-Big Ten honors in 2016. He also earned Big Ten Player of the Week honors and was named to the 2015 Houston College Classic All-Tournament Team. He is on track to become the 25th player in school history to total 200 or more career hits.
