Classroom

Brad Dunwell has one of the highest GPAs on the team at 3.22 and has been an Athletic Director Honor Roll recipient in each of his first six semesters. He also has twice been named to the dean’s list as a communications major. Dunwell has been voted to the ACC All-Academic Team each of his first three seasons, being one of just two current seniors in the ACC to accomplish that feat.

Character

Both on and off the pitch, Dunwell serves as one of the leaders of the team and is one of two team captains in 2018. “Brad leads our team by example and gives 100 percent in everything he does. He works to make others around him better both on the field and in life,” said Head Coach Bobby Muuss.

Dunwell has been a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee since January 2015, being added midway through his freshman year.

Community

Dunwell has participated in more than 20 community service events in his four years, including six already in 2018. These activities range from running youth soccer camps both on campus and in the inner city, helping freshmen students move into campus, collecting and serving food to the homeless in Winston-Salem and more.

Competition

Serving as the starting holding midfielder, Dunwell has been the anchor of the Demon Deacons all four years. He has yet to miss a game, starting all 76 games (as of Sept. 11) since stepping on campus. Dunwell was a third-team All-ACC selection in both 2016 and 2017 after being picked to the All-Freshman Team in 2015. As of nomination time, he had totaled one goal and 14 assists in his career, but more importantly, had led Wake Forest to a 61-8-7 record in his four years, eight wins more than any other Division I program. He also has helped his team to three straight trips to the NCAA quarterfinals and one NCAA runner-up finish.
