Character

Brad is the only player on the current roster to earn a spot out of walk-on tryouts. In the fall of 2003 he was the only player out of an estimated 80 that made the team. Since Brad there have been no other players that have made the UA roster out of fall walk-on tryouts. He is easily one of the hardest working players on the team and has transformed himself from being a lightly used walk-on to a key contributor. In his first two seasons at Arizona he saw action in 28 games and tossed only 23 1/3 innings combined in 2004-05. Last season he became a key pitcher and was the second starter in the rotation, tossing 82 1/3 innings and winning a team-high six games. As a senior he provides a model for the younger pitchers on the team on how to prepare before, during and after games. He is extremely academic inclined. He was drafted in the 22nd round of the 2006 Major League Baseball Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays and turned down a significant dollar amount to return to Arizona for his senior baseball season and to finish his school work.
