Classroom

Brandon recently completed his second to last semester at Tulane, and he compiled a 3.896 GPA. Brandon’s cumulative GPA is 3.698. Boudreaux was named a CoSIDA/Capital One Third Team Academic All-American in 2012, and he was named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team in 2012. Brandon is set to graduate this spring. If he is not selected in the MLB Draft - where he would pursue a career in professional baseball - Brandon would like to follow in his family’s footsteps and become a jeweler. Brandon’s family owns and operates Boudreaux’s Jewelers, which is one of the most well known and respected jewelers in Louisiana.

Character

Brandon is thought of by his coaches and his teammates as one of the hardest working athletes for the Tulane baseball squad. Assistant Coach Jake Gautreau stated that, “Brandon is easily one of the most reliable players on the team.” One of Brandon’s teammates was quick to say that he has always put the team first. Despite struggling at the plate during his sophomore campaign (.227 BA, nearly 70 points lower than his career average), Brandon never let his emotions show. He was always the first player out of the dugout to congratulate a teammate for an outstanding play.

Community

Brandon has taken part in multiple community related activities with his team, but he has also taken the extra step to be involved in the community on his own. Every year, the Tulane baseball program plays an annual softball game with students from St. Michael’s Special School here in New Orleans. The game, which is dedicated to helping students with major learning disabilities and special education needs, pairs students with Tulane baseball players, such as Brandon, where the athletes help the students play a game. The players also visit the children at school to play with them on the playground and participate in holiday festivities every December.

Tulane baseball is also involved in the Base Bald program, where players take part in shaving their heads for childhood cancer research. Brandon has had his head shaved on an annual basis since he arrived on campus in 2010. Brandon, as well as the rest of his teammates, shaved his head again on March 10, 2013 to help raise money for the Vs. Cancer Foundation. Brandon and his teammates raised $10,000 - $5,000 of which is going to a national research fund. The remaining $5,000 was donated to a local hospital, Ochsner Hospital, so they can refurbish their teen room with games, toys, furniture, etc., allowing teens who are being treated for cancer at Ochsner to have a comfortable place to spend time during their stay at the hospital.

Brandon takes part in Tulane’s ‘Shadow an Athlete’ program, where underprivileged children in the greater New Orleans area are paired with a student athlete for the day. The student gets to attend classes, have lunch, and take part in practice with the athlete, and Brandon has participated in this during every semester on campus. When Tulane football player Devon Walker broke his neck in a collision during a game earlier this season, Brandon was integral in raising funds for Walker’s care. At all home football games in 2012, shirts were sold to raise money for Walker, and Brandon was at most games to help.

Competition

Brandon has been recognized by Conference USA on numerous occasions. In 2012, he was a first team All-Conference selection, and he was the C-USA hitter of the week three times on the year, which is a school record. In 2010, he was named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team. He batted .330 during his junior campaign, with eight homers and 36 RBI. He ranked in the top ten in a slew of offensive categories in C-USA last year (runs scored (56, 3rd), slugging percentage (.541, 4th), doubles (14, 7th), triples (3, 7th), total bases (113, 8th), home runs (8, 8th) and on-base percentage (.426, 10th)). He led the team in runs scored and slugging percentage. During his sophomore campaign, he ranked third on the team in stolen bases (7), while reaching base in 15 straight games from April 19-May 15. In 2010, he tied for the team lead in game played (56) and games started (56), tied for second on the team in hits (73) and stolen bases (4) and was third on the club in doubles (11), batting average (.323) and total bases (98). He also collected 18 multi-hit and seven multi-RBI contests. For his career, Boudreaux holds a batting average of .301 with 13 homers and 81 RBI. He has appeared in 157 games, starting 151 of those contests.
