Classroom

Moody is a three-time Academic All-Big Sky Conference selection who has a 3.8 GPA as a psychology major. Her goal beyond her undergraduate education is to get into the healthcare field and earn some work experience before applying for graduate-school programs in the area of physician’s assistant.

She was voted by her 300 fellow student-athletes within Montana’s Department of Athletics as the Grizzlies’ Junior Class Student-Athlete of the Year last spring.

Character

Moody, who plays the key position of center back, is one of three captains on the 2014 Montana soccer team. Says Griz coach Mark Plakorus, “Your center back guides, directs and leads your team, and Brooke has all the qualities you need to play that position. Not just the athletic qualities but add in her intelligence, her decision-making, her ability to communicate and her unwavering confidence in what she’s doing, and she makes people around her better.

“She is a tremendous leader on our team. I know I can always count on her to do the right thing all the time. It’s very important for me as a coach to know that our captains have the frame of mind that they are always thinking about the team first.”

Community

During the 2013-14 academic year, Moody volunteered at CS Porter Middle School and was a Read-a-Thon volunteer at Lolo Elementary School. She twice worked on projects for Special Olympics and spent time volunteering at both the Ronald McDonald House and Watson Children’s Shelter.

On campus she is an Alpha Lambda Delta and a member of UM’s Alpha Phi sorority, and is a Peer Advisor for the school’s Undergraduate Advising Center.

Competition

Moody was voted second-team All-Big Sky Conference by the league’s coaches last fall and by her teammates as Montana’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player. She has played in 59 matches in her career, getting 32 starts, and has scored a pair of goals. She played a team-high 1,663 minutes (87.5/g) last season as a junior.
