Character

Wilson passed up a chance to turn professional last summer in order to return to college, complete his degree and play one more season for the Hatters. He has been a captain for two years and is the unquestioned leader of the team. He volunteered to surrender his role as the team’s No. 1 starting pitcher to become a closer and play first base in order to help the team win.

Community

Wilson has been active during all four years at Stetson with his baseball teammates organizing a blood drive each year at Thanksgiving and participating in the MeStrong 5K in January in support of breast cancer research. He and the team are also actively involved in supporting SPARK, which is a program for kids and teens with autism.

Competition

Wilson led the ASUN in 2017 with 127 strikeouts, finishing among the top five pitchers in the nation. He entered the 2018 season just 121 strikeouts away from the school record and 126 away from the ASUN career record. He has spent each of the past two summers playing for the Orleans Firebirds in the Cape Cod League. He led the ASUN in wins as a freshman (9), earning All-America honors as a freshman. He has been the team leader in innings pitched for three consecutive season, totaling 260 over his first three years.
