Character

Sherrod elected to return to Texas A&M despite being drafted in the 13th round by the Kansas City Royals to try to earn another trip to the College World Series. As a student-athlete who is 53 percent deaf in both ears due to his premature birth of 2.5 months, he has been an inspiration to the children of the Brazos Valley Regional School for the Deaf volunteering at their annual picnic and field day.

Community

Sherrod is a three-year participant in the Aggies Baseball Paint-a-Thon in which the team visits the home of a local resident in need to paint the exterior of the home and perform basic outdoor maintenance and landscaping. He helped the Aggies raise a combined $60,000 the last three years for the Vs. Cancer Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. He has a regular schedule of visits to volunteer at local elementary schools, and he is a finalist for The Texas A&M Athletics Lohman Inspiration Award.

Competition

Sherrod logged a 4-1 record with four saves, a 2.89 ERA and a .203 opponent batting average as a junior. He worked four games in the NCAA Tournament, picking up one save and logging a 1.93 ERA in 4.2 innings.
