Character

Black has been a leader for the Eagles’ program since setting foot on campus in 2011. Despite a lack of team victories throughout her three years in Cheney, she has brought intensity and drive to every training session, determined to take the program to new heights. Her work ethic is a model for the younger players on the team, and she is the first one to give credit to her teammates despite an exhaustive list of individual accolades.

Community

Black is very active in the Cheney and Spokane communities surrounding EWU, volunteering with a number of organizations. Along with her teammates, she has prepared and served dinner at the Ronald McDonald House in Spokane and assisted with the Breakthrough for Brain Tumors Run/Walk in Spokane. For the past year, Black has volunteered at the Sacred Heart Hospital Emergency Room in Spokane, spending time with patients and aiding doctors and nurses.

Competition

Black has twice earned All-Big Sky honors in her illustrious career, receiving second team accolades in 2012 and honorable mention honors in 2013. She became EWU’s all-time leading scorer last season with 18 career goals to her name, and she also owns top marks in game-winning goals, points and goals per game average. Black earned Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week honors three times as a junior, scoring eight goals on the year while being the only player in the Big Sky to register a hat trick.
