Classroom

Chase boasts a 3.98 GPA and was named third team CoSIDA Academic All-American in 2012. He has been on the Dean’s list at Butler since 2010 and was a Lilly Scholar (free tuition) coming out of high school. He is a member of two academic honors fraternities: Beta Gamma Sigma and Alpha Lambda Delta.

Character

Chase is a true leader and scholar. He’s a great representative of our school and baseball program. He’s active on campus and in the community in addition to being a standout relief pitcher for the Bulldogs. He is a strong communicator, problem solver and critical thinker. His character, combined with his academic achievements, have enabled him to gain employment at pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly after he graduates.

Community

Chase is an active member of the fraternity Delta Tau Delta, where he participates in philanthropies Trike and Delt Dunk. Trike raised $20,000 for Riley Children’s Hospital and Delt Dunk raised $8,000 for the Matt White Cure ALS Foundation. Off campus, Chase has been a volunteer in a kindergarten class at IPS School 60 in the inner city. He also volunteered at a fundraiser for the Indianapolis Humane Society and volunteered manual labor at Rebuilding The Wall. He has also spent time giving back at Damar, a facility for mentally-challenged children.

Competition

As Butler’s closer, he ranked second in the conference with 10 saves. He pitched 45.1 innings with 32 strikeouts against 5 walks. He ranked second in the league in games finished 2 years in a row. His career numbers include 4 wins and 14 saves along with 74 strikeouts and 29 walks. In summer baseball, he was named “Fireman of the Year” in 2011 for his work in a collegiate summer league.
