Classroom

Feekin will graduate in May of 2014 with a degree in elementary education.  She has a 3.37 cumulative grade point average. In 2012 as a junior, she was named honorable mention all-Valley Scholar-Athlete.  After graduation, Chelsey wants to move back to Nebraska and become an elementary teacher.

Character

Feekin was a highly recruited setter and decided she wanted to stay closer to home so she came to Wichita State even though WSU had a setter that was only one year older than her and a starter. She patiently waited her turn and kept working hard and in her first year as a starter in 2012, led the team to the Sweet 16. In practice, she works extremely hard and she is able to score so well because of all the work she has put in working on her different setter dumps in practice. She is a great leader as she holds her teammates accountable in practice before her coaches do.

Community

Feekin has served her community doing many different things.  The list includes Numana Haiti Food Packaging Relief, Missouri Valley Conference Just Read Program, WSU Pen Pal, volunteer work crew for the Extreme Makeover Home Edition featuring Carl Hall, Kansas Food Bank, USD 259 Summer Reading Night, Fast Fours, and the Little Spikers Volleyball Program and Junior Spikers Volleyball Program.

Competition

In 2012, Feekin earned honorable mention All-America honors, was named first team all-Region, first team all-Valley, MVC all-tournament team and MVC Player of the Week twice as she led the Shockers to the first Sweet 16 in school history. She had three triple-doubles, 18 double-doubles and was first in the MVC in hitting percentage and fifth in assists per set. She finished the season with 254 kills, 1,297 assists, 24 aces, 354 digs and 79 blocks, while hitting .435.  In 2011, she played in 18 matches and 30 sets and hit .452 with 22 kills, 69 assists, 11 digs and five blocks. In 2010, she played in 17 matches and 34 sets and hit .100 with two kills, 85 assists, four aces, 31 digs and three blocks.
