Classroom

Wright is on pace to graduate on time in May 2011. Wright’s instructors say he takes an active role in the learning process. He has taken a variety of courses in communications, education, entrepreneurship and business administration.

Character

Wright is a tremendous ambassador to the program. People who meet him talk about his personality, and how he has remained grounded through all the hype. While great talent and tremendous physical gifts — including a 39.5-inch vertical leap — could make a player approach the game with a “me-first” attitude, Wright goes out of his way to approach everything he does “we-first.”

Community

Wright participates in numerous community-service activities including feeding the homeless during Thanksgiving, working with underprivileged kids at the Dayton YMCA during the summer, handing out Christmas presents to less fortunate children and delivering season tickets to fans.

Competition

Wright enters his senior year on the Wooden Award watch list after spending some of his offseason as one of 10 members of the USA Basketball select team that trained against the gold-medal winning Men’s World Championship team. Wright is a two-time All-Atlantic 10 selection and was named to the 2010-11 preseason All-A-10 team. He is Dayton’s top returning player after leading the Flyers in points (13.7), rebounds (7.2) and blocks (53).
