Colin Chell is a three-time Ohio State Scholar-Athlete and two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree. Chell contributed a program record 3.32 semester GPA in Fall of 2017. He is a logistics management major in Ohio State’s Fisher College of Business.

Character

This fall, Chell was selected by his coaches to be one of four captains on this year’s team.

Community

Chell is one of the most active members of the team in regards to community service, volunteering his time with five different organizations throughout the year. This fall, he spent time at the Heinzerling Foundation, a care center for adults with severe and profound developmental disabilities. He’s also been active with volunteering his time at the local Ronald McDonald House, 2nd and 7 Foundation, After School All-Stars and Grow the Game. His work with 2nd and 7 includes reading to Columbus-area elementary school-aged children. Grow the Game is an initiative to introduce and grow the game of lacrosse in Central Ohio through one-hour demonstrations and clinics with youth and middle school teams.

Competition

As a junior in 2017, Chell saw action in all 21 games with 15 starts. He was third on the team with 33 points and fourth in goals with 21. Chell also added a career-high 12 assists for a team that advanced to the NCAA Final Four and national championship game for the first time in program history. Over the last 13 games of the season, Chell had 20 points. His five man-up goals were tied for seventh-most in the NCAA. As a sophomore in 2016, Chell played in 11 of 15 games and scored 14 goals to go along with six assists for 20 points. A year prior, Chell was named Ohio State’s Most Valuable Freshman when he scored 22 goals and added four assists for 26 points. He entered his senior season with 57 goals and 22 assists for 79 points.
