Classroom

Colton is on track to graduate with a degree in political science.  He most recently earned a 3.0 GPA during the fall semester.  While playing professional baseball is his dream and the next step in his career, he aspires to eventually go to law school and become a sports agent.

Character

Colton is the epitome of a leader on and off the field.  He is a team captain for the baseball team at LMU and serves as the President of LMU’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. As SAAC President, Colton plans and implements various community service opportunities and works as a liaison between the student-athlete, LMU administration and the NCAA. On the field, he runs voluntary practices and works every day to help other players on the team exceed expectations and develop greatness.  One of the hardest working student-athletes at LMU, Colton also represented his country last summer playing for the US Collegiate National Team.

Community

Colton takes pride in helping fellow students, student-athletes and members of his community, using his stature as a prominent baseball player to serve as a leader both on and off campus.  Colton serves as President of LMU’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, planning and executing a number of community service efforts.  Some of the many projects include the annual LMU BOOLING event that serves as a canned food drive supporting a local food bank, a Soles4Souls and Clothes4Souls initiative in which shoes and clothes are donated to those in need, a midnight mission sweatshirt/hoodie drive, beach cleanups that see LMU student-athletes cleaning up the shores at local beaches, and a remodel and school cleanup project with a local school (Kentwood Elementary School).

Competition

Colton is a mainstay in the Lion offense behind the plate, starting all 54 games for the Lions in 2012 en route to being named first team All-WCC.  He was also drafted following the completion of last season, but elected to return to LMU to complete his degree and eligibility following a summer playing for the US Collegiate National Team.  Last year, Colton batted .326 with a team-best six homers and 38 RBI, collecting 28 runs scored and eight doubles while slugging .461.  In conference play alone, Colton hit .385 and reached at a .472 clip with 17 runs scored, four doubles, four homers and 26 RBI while throwing out 12-of-27 potential base stealers.  For his career, Colton is a .315 hitter with 10 homers, 17 doubles and 62 RBI.
