Dani Drews

Drews is pursuing completion of her degree as a parks, recreation, and tourism major.

Drews, a two-time team captain, has worked incredibly hard to improve each season. She wasted no time going back in the gym after her freshman year, spending an hour before and after practice to work on her passing. Her work ethic has paid off, culminating in two All-American selections.

Throughout her career, Drews has stepped up in tough situations and has been the face of the program of the last three seasons. Fans and teammates both look to her for her reaction, and she has always handled that well. She constantly reminds herself about how important humility is and never wants to come off as someone that can’t be talked to.

Drews is grateful to people that show interest in the team and wants to show gratitude to everyone and thanks everyone being invested on our program.

Drews helped lead the volleyball team to having the second highest community service hours as a team at Utah. She volunteered for a program called Global Girls, which hosts a volleyball league for refugees. Drews also helped collect items from her teammates to handout to the refugee players to wear while they were playing.

She helped clean up Salt Lake City after a really bad windstorm that brought a lot of damage to the city. She has spent time visiting several elementary schools, reading to the students.

Drews is a two-time All-American, earning second team honors during her sophomore season and first team honors during her junior season. She is the second player in program history to be named a first team All-American in program history.

In 2019, Drews was named AVCA Pacific South Region Player of the Year, as well as learning All-Pac-12 honors for the second year in a row. She set a single-season record and became the first player in program history to eclipse the 600-kill mark finishing with 643 during the season. That mark was the second most in the nation.
