Classroom

He was named to the All-ACC Academic men’s lacrosse team and to the ACC Honor Roll last season … he currently carries a 3.4 GPA in his major (economics) … he studied in Spain last summer.

Character

Danny never met a stranger … everyone who has ever met him has come away impressed … he is considerate to all he comes in contact with … it’s not unusual for him to give away balls, sweat bands, etc to kids after games and he will always sign autographs … he is also very accomodating to media representatives requesting to interview him … he always has a smile and is a true gentleman on the field.

Community

Active in UVa athletics dept ACE (Athletes Committed to Education) program … tutored 6th grade math at local middle school last year and works with 4th graders this year … interacts with underprivileged children and helps them with more than academics … received the Hoos Achieving Community Service Award in 2008 … member of the Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), a committee representing student athletes at UVa … worked on and voted on legislation from the ACC and NCAA regarding recruiting regulations

Competition

4-year starter for a team that has reached the final four twice in three years … Preseason National Player of the Year … preseason All-American …  team captain this year … 2x All-American … ranked 2nd nationally in assists last year … among Virginia’s all-time leaders in goals, assists and points … should be top 5 or 6 by the end of his career … ACC Rookie of the Year in 2006 … 2x All-ACC (it’s harder to make All-ACC than All-American) … led team in points and assists as a junior last season … has been named to the NCAA Championships All-Tournament team twice.
