Classroom

Powers carries a 3.417 cumulative GPA as a political science major, with a minor in peace studies, in Notre Dame’s College of Arts and Letters. He was named an NSCAA Scholar All-American in 2011. Dillon is a three-time BIG EAST Academic All-Star.

Character

Powers will be serving as a team captain for the second straight season in 2012. He was voted captain by his teammates. Powers is a member of Notre Dame’s Rosenthal Leadership Academy, which develops, challenges and supports student-athletes and coaches in their continual quest to become world-class leaders in athletics, academics and life.

Community

Powers has participated in the Take Ten program, which aims to teach kids to practice non-violence in everyday situations. He has volunteered his time at the Salvation Army and along with his former teammate, Jeb Brovsky, produced a video for South Bend’s Center for the Homeless. Powers also has given his time to work team camps at Notre Dame.

Competition

Powers has earned second team all-BIG EAST honors in each of the last two seasons and was named to the BIG EAST All-Rookie Team in 2009. He copped NSCAA all-region honors in 2011 along with being named the Notre Dame team MVP. The central midfielder has played in 56 career games, including 42 starts, with the Fighting Irish and has tallied 23 points on five goals and 13 assists. He has helped the Irish post a 30-19-12 record during his first three seasons. The only five matches he has missed during his Fighting Irish career occurred during his freshman season when he was with Team USA at the 2009 Under-20 World Cup in Egypt. Powers helped the U.S. U-20 squad to the 2010 Milk Cup title with a 3-0 record. He was named MVP of the Milk Tournament.
