Dustin Shirley is a psychology major with a 3.72 GPA. He earned Academic All-Ivy League honors in the spring, and he was a Dartmouth Scholar-Athlete Award finalist. In addition, he has been chosen to the Athletics Director’s Honor Roll each of first three years.
Character
Shirley was voted by his teammates as a captain for the 2018 season.
Community
Shirley is a volunteer coordinator for Dartmouth Feeding Neighbors, organizing volunteers to make deliveries of leftover food from the college dining halls to the Upper Valley Haven. He has also volunteered for the Special Olympics Winter Games and attended Halloween dances in support of a special-needs employee who works for Dartmouth Dining Services.
Competition
Shirley is a career .267 hitter with 17 doubles, nine triples and one homer in 434 at-bats. He has played in all but three Big Green games in his first three seasons and 112 consecutively. He was named All-Ivy League Honorable Mention as a sophomore when he hit .301 and ranked 25th nationally in triples per game. He led the league and ranked 23rd nationally last year in sacrifice flies per game. He also was named Dartmouth’s Most Improved Player at the conclusion of his freshman campaign.
