Franny Cerny is a three-time BIG EAST All-Academic Team selection with a 3.518 grade-point average.

Character

As a senior, Cerny is a team captain and a true leader of the team. She has evolved throughout her soccer career from being one of the top players statistically as a freshman, sophomore and junior to taking ownership of the program during her final season with the Blue Demons.

Community

Cerny is annually involved in DePaul’s community outreach initiatives the Wintrust Blankets program and the university’s Vincentian Service Day. And the women’s soccer team has been heavily involved with the Team IMPACT program during the last two seasons.

Competition

Cerny is on pace to break the career goals record at DePaul. She is a two-time All-BIG EAST selection, earning first-team honors as a junior and second-team honors following her sophomore season. In 2015, Cerny was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Year and selected for the All-Freshman Team. She has earned all-region honors twice from United Soccer Coaches (second-team 2017, third-team 2016).

Cerny led the BIG EAST and Blue Demons with 10 goals (four game-winners) during her junior season. She recorded a hat trick in DePaul’s 4-0 win against William & Mary, and she led DePaul with five game-winning goals during her sophomore season, including a game-winner in a 4-1 victory against Georgetown (nationally ranked). She also tallied a another hat trick during her sophomore season against Xavier.
