Geo Baker has received Big Ten All-Academic honors in both 2018-19 and 2019-20. Holding a +3.0 GPA, Baker has helped the Rutgers team earn their first NABC Academic Excellence Award for the first time in eight years.

Character

Geo Baker is a team captain and a veteran leader of the program. Baker entered Rutgers as an unheralded recruit and has grown into a position of leadership.

Community

Baker is an active participant in community service initiatives at Rutgers. Baker has been vocal speaking out against social injustices and is a member of the Big Ten Anti-Hate and Anti-Racism Coalition. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Baker started the viral ‘Step Back Challenge’ to encouarge youths to replicate his signature step back jumper and stay active during the quarantine.

Competition

Prior to the start of the 2020-21 season, Baker was named to the pre-season All-Big Ten team, the first Scarlet Knight to earn that honor since 2004-05. Baker was also named to the Watch List for the Bob Cousy Award and was the ninth ranked returning player in the country by NCAA.com.

Baker currently ranks 32nd all-time at Rutgers in points, 8th in assists, 13th in steals, and 10th in three-pointers made. Baker has earned a reputation as one of the nation’s most clutch shot-makers.

In 2019-20, Baker was named a third-team All-Big Ten member, as well as a first team All-MET selection. In 2018-19, Baker was an honorable mention All-Big Ten and third team All-MET recipient.
