Goose McGlaun

McGlaun graduated in December with her bachelor’s degree in physical education and master’s in sport pedagogy, carrying a 3.37 cumulative grade point average.

A three-time member of the Academic All-Big 12 first-team, she has been named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll every semester. This past fall semester, McGlaun balanced her practice schedule, class schedule, and student teaching assignment at a local elementary school all during the pandemic.

McGlaun is a leader on and off the field for the Baylor softball program. She is always encouraging her teammates and leading by example.

She was commended by her supervisor in the School of Education in December after he received an email about her performance as a student teacher in the fall. He said the email from McGlaun’s mentor teacher was the highest praise he’s ever received from a mentor about an intern. When she had to quarantine in the fall, she used Zoomed to lead her physical education classes in their exercises.

McGlaun has completed the Leadership Institute at Baylor and is a favorite among the younger fans who wait for autographs after games. She looks forward to when things open back up and the students she taught last semester are able to come out and watch her play.

Back in the fall, she went out to Coach Lumley’s house to help with yard work since he was unable to take care of it himself due to his fight with cancer.

McGlaun is Baylor’s clean-up hitter and is currently in sole possession of sixth place all-time in the Baylor record books with 29 career home runs.

Still known as the hero of the 2017 NCAA Tucson Super Regional, she hit a three-run home run in the top of the seventh with the Lady Bears trailing by two, driving in the game-winning run to help secure the program’s fourth WCWS.

McGlaun is a member of the 2018 NFCA All-Central Region Second Team and has received All-Big 12 accolades every season at Baylor.
