Grant Lillard is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, 2016 second-team NSCAA Scholar All-American and 2016 NSCAA Scholar All-North/Central Region Team selection.

Character

Lillard is a 2017 team captain and is active in SAAC, which is a group of students interested in serving as a voice for all student-athletes. This group is led by an executive board and has representatives from each of IU’s 24 sports. He also is active in Hoosier Heroes, which is a resource for incoming freshmen student-athletes as well as a leadership opportunity for upperclassmen. This prepares freshmen regarding how to succeed with the many demands they will face in their first year on campus. He is also involved in Shield, which is a student-athlete led group that focuses on creating a safe environment for student-athletes to engage in discussion about the struggles and triumphs of life.

Community

Lillard volunteered with other members of the men’s soccer team with Children’s Therapy, which is used to help children to be more active.

Competition

Lillard’s athletic awards and honors include the following: 2016 Second-Team All-American, two-time First-Team All-Big Ten (2015, 2016), two-time First-Team All-Midwest Region (2015,2016), two-time MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List (2016, 2017), Big Ten Freshman of the Year (2014) and second-team All-Region (2014). As of nomination time, he has started all 66 matches in which he has appeared, scoring 12 goals with eight assists.
