Classroom

Haley Libs is a two-time All-Horizon League Academic Team honoree and was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 2 Team in 2017. She boasts a flawless 4.00 grade-point average as an exercise science major.

Character

Libs is a three-time volleyball captain in the program, chosen by her teammates for her commitment and work ethic to volleyball and her academic studies. She has been a great leader because of her natural qualities, but she also has improved her leadership style as she has learned from teammates how to deal with different personalities and larger—and more youthful—recruiting classes. Libs is very welcoming and mature, and she communicates well with all teammates. She helps her teammates with volleyball and academics, and also provides advice on day-to-day stressors.

Community

Libs has consistently helped lead the NKU volleyball team in its community efforts. For the past three years, she has been involved with Mathew 25 Ministry and has worked with the Henry Hosea Soup Kitchen and has been an ambassador for Team IMPACT for the past two years. Libs has also worked with the Holy Cross Fish Fry, PetsMart Animal Adoption and has helped out with numerous volleyball clinics for grade schools. Of personal importance to her, Libs uses Christmas as a time to visit and give gifts to patients at Norton’s Children’s Hospital (formerly Kosair Children’s), the hospital that treated her for acute lymphocytic leukemia as a child.

Competition

Libs is a three-time All-Horizon League honoree and was named the conference freshman of the year in her rookie season. She has been NKU’s kills leader in every season. Last year, she led the Norse in both kills (366/3.55 kps) and digs (361/3.50 dps) and has increased her averages even more with the start of her senior season at 4.45 kills and 3.97 digs per set for the Norse. She recently had NKU’s first-ever 30/30 match with career highs of 30 kills and 34 digs against NIU, a feat that has only been accomplished two other times by a Division I player in the current scoring era. Libs has been climbing the ranks of NKU’s record books, sitting at No. 12 all-time with 1,257 kills and is just 27 digs away from joining the 1,000-kill/1,000 dig club as of Sept. 13. She is a polished six-rotation player who is also a valuable asset in serve-receive, boasting a .952 reception percentage on nearly 2,000 attempts.
