She helped the Miami volleyball program earn an AVCA Team Academic Ward for the 2017 season.

She is now earning a masters in international business studies. Templeton’s drive to succeed both on the court and in the classroom is translated by her success in the ACC and her ability to manage her time with a busy class load while being a triple major.

Character

Templeton’s passion for the game is shown by her leadership on the court through her helping underclassmen Hannah Sorensen and Sophie Walls in the setter position. She has her priorities in line and doesn’t allow distractions to phase her. Templeton holds her teammates to a high standard and expects the best from them. The redshirt senior’s will to win is displayed by her leadership and success she’s had at Miami.

Community

Templeton volunteered at a volleyball clinic at G.W. Carver Middle School, where she was able to help children improve their volleyball skills. While in Puerto Rico, she visited the local hospital, San Juan Children’s and Women’s Hospital, and spent time with children who had been in the hospital for various reasons. Templeton and her team were able to hand out Canes volleyball shirts and brighten the days of the sick children during their time in the hospital.

Competition

Templeton entered her final campaign with the Miami Hurricanes ranked third on Miami’s all-time assist list. Templeton is on pace to pass Jill Robinson for second place, with just over 1,000 assists separating the two.

The Alpharetta, Ga., native has led the Canes in assists and has shown no signs of slowing down. Templeton has been named to the Preseason All-ACC Team for four straight seasons, was named the ACC Freshman of the Year and was named to the All-ACC Second Team in 2014. Templeton earned All-ACC Second Team honors in 2015, including AVCA All-East Coast Region Honorable Mention honors. In her redshirt junior season, Templeton was named to the All-ACC First Team, AVCA All-East Coast Region Team and AVCA All-American Honorable Mention Team in 2017 before competing with the US Collegiate National team over the summer.

Templeton’s career at Miami has produced multiple all-tournament team selections and six player of the week awards, and she has led Miami to two of the program’s nine NCAA Tournament appearances. As of nomination time, she sits 12th in the nation with 3,911 career assists and has played 40 games less than the leading setter.
