Classroom

Tyson has enjoyed a career of academic success at Clemson, where he carries a 3.5 GPA.

He has earned NABC Honors Court recognition and is both a two-time All-ACC Honor Roll and All-ACC Academic Team selection. In addition, Tyson has been named to the Clemson’s President’s List once and Dean’s List twice.

Character

Tyson is the consummate teammate - and that doesn’t just apply to the basketball court. He is engaged in all aspects of campus, athletics, and the basketball program. Tyson will stop what he’s doing to help someone and will be the first one in the gym all the time.

He currently serves as Clemson’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee representative.

Community

Tyson has been able to grow his character while at school.

He has worked on Clemson’s Habitat for Humanity house and visited the Greenville Children’s Hospital on multiple occasions. The team also participates in Tiger Wonderland each Christmas, where they pick out gifts, wrap them, and work with Clemson Community Care to enjoy time with underprivileged children in the area.

Tyson’s favorite, however, is spending time with the Outdoor Dream Foundation. It aims to bond the basketball program with children and youth under 21 who have been diagnosed with a terminal or life-threatening illness.

Competition

Joining Clemson in 2018-19, Tyson has now become a team leader entering his senior season.

He has elevated himself into one of the Tiger’s primary contributors after a career year as a junior. Tyson shot career bests from the floor (46.5), three (43.1), and free throw line (77.1) while averaging a career-best 7.5 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. He suffered an injury against Alabama last season but returned better than ever, scoring a season-best 16 points to help lift Clemson past North Carolina.
