Jake Johnson is studying finance at the Mendoza College of Business and currently owns a 3.301 cumulative GPA. A three-time ACC Academic Honor Roll member, Johnson was named to the ACC All-Academic Team in 2017.

Character

Johnson displays the epitome of leading by example. He is diligent in his pursuit of always performing at his best and has an unwavering level of focus. He is extremely observant and is always willing to lend an ear to a teammate, which makes him in-tune with the overall demeanor of the team at any given moment. He has been a great leader in the outfield and an even better teammate in the clubhouse.

Community

Johnson has served 20.75 hours in the community so far throughout the 2017-18 academic year. He has visited Perley Elementary for more than 10 hours, played bingo at the local nursing home and volunteered at the team’s annual Halloween event “Haunted Eck” for the community. Johnson celebrated the holiday with the Pediatric Christmas Party, and he also participated in the team’s bus pull.

Competition

In 2017, Johnson started 53 games and recorded a .305 average over the season. He led the Irish with a .401 on-base percentage while scoring the most runs (38) of anyone on the team. Johnson was the only position player with at least five fielding chances to not commit an error, recording 92 putouts and tallying three assists.
