Character
Peterson had a stellar freshman campaign, culminating in A-10 All-Rookie Team recognition in 2016. She was sidelined the following season due to a torn labrum and the subsequent surgery. Peterson also missed the 2018 season after welcoming her son Carter to her family.
In 2019, she returned to the court and led the team with 552 kills. Peterson was named the A-10 Player of the Year, Midwest Region Player of the Year, and an AVCA honorable mention All-American.
Heading into her senior season, Peterson has been named a team captain for the Flyers.
Community
Peterson is an active participant in the Flyers’ outreach projects.
She has been involved in the Big Sister/Little Sister program and National Girls and Women in Sports Day. Peterson has also served as a station leader for the Greater Dayton YMCA Olympics and has also been involved along with the team in Christmas on Campus. It’s Dayton’s annual Christmas celebration on campus that benefits local children from low socioeconomic backgrounds.
Competition
Peterson is a two-time A-10 and AVCA Midwest Region Player of the Year (2019-2020). She also became only the third Flyer to ever be named to the AVCA All-America third team, when she did so last season.
In the first match of this season, Peterson eclipsed the 1,000-kill mark. She currently ranks 10th all-time at Dayton with 1,129 kills.
Peterson finished the 2020 season ranked ninth in NCAA DI with 0.56 aces/set.
