Classroom

Journalism / Public Relations major with a 3.83 cumulative GPA. She is projected to graduate in May 2007. Was a member of the MVC Scholar-Athlete First-Team in 2006 and the CoSIDA ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VII First-Team in 2005. She was the MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week for February 22, 2007. She has been a member of the Dean’s List and won the MVC Commissioner’s Academic Excellence Award and the Creighton Diversity Scholarship. Reiss is a Bill Gates Millenium Scholar (1 of 100 African-Americans in the NATION to receive full-ride scholarship through a national application process) and a member of PRSSA, Public Relations Student Society of America.

Character

Is a member of Alpha Sigma Nu (National Jesuit Honor Society). Reiss is the Creighton team captain and a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). She is an outstanding representative for Creighton and Omaha, very intelligent and carries herself as an adult beyond her years. She is one of first to practice and is the leader on the field, taking control of infield coverages from her third base spot.

Community

Reiss has helped to organize a clothing drive for Siena Francis House and led the effort for “Jays Helping the Homeless” money gathering at men’s basketball games. She and her teammates participate in a mentoring program for students at Conestoga Elementary School as well as in the “Just Read” program.

Competition

Reiss is a four year starter at third base, making 179 starts in her first 181 games played. She was a part of two Missouri Valley Conference Tournament champion teams (2004, 2005), advancing to the NCAA Tournament both years. She led the NCAA with 28 sacrifice hits as junior in 2006 and led team in assists as a sophomore and junior.
