Jayse McLean

Classroom

Jayse McLean graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in mechanical engineering and was a 2018 CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team selection. McLean is a three-time Summit League Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll-Distinguished Scholar selection, and he was named to the Summit League Academic All-League Team in 2018 and selected to the Summit League Commissioner’s List of Academic Excellence in 2018.

Character

McLean has twice been named a team captain for the Bison baseball team. He sat out the 2017 season with an injury, only to bounce back and have the best year of his career in 2018.

Community

McLean is a member of the North Dakota State Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. He also belongs to the Blue Key Honor Society. As a member of both organizations, McLean has spent hours volunteering and helping organize multiple food, toy and blood drives.

Competition

McLean was a second-team All-Summit League selection in 2018. He ranked 79th in the nation with four triples and 92nd in the nation with .08 triples per game. He also led the Summit League in triples and ranked fourth in home runs (7) and runs scored (40). McLean also ranked sixth in the Summit League in slugging percentage (.449) and walks (31). He started all 50 games in 2018 and has started 94 of the 108 games he has appeared in during his career.
