Classroom

A standout academic achiever for Mizzou, Marston earned CoSIDA First Team Academic All-American recognition as a junior in 2012, having compiled a cumulative 3.98 GPA in Industrial Engineering. She has twice earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, also receiving the award as a sophomore in 2011. Marston was a two-time First Team Academic All-Big 12 honoree.

Character

After spending her first two years at shortstop and earning First Team All-Big 12 recognition as a sophomore, Marston made the transition to becoming Mizzou’s starting catcher as a junior in 2012. The move proved to be an excellent one towards strengthening the squad, as Marston started 47 of 58 starts behind the plate and earned Second Team All-Big 12 recognition. She has commonly been referred to as one of the Tigers’ prime examples of a student-athlete who leads by example.

Community

Over her career, Marston has been sure to give back to the Columbia, Mo., community. She volunteered her time at the city’s Voluntary Action Center during the holidays. Marston and her teammates have additionally given their time to the local food bank.

Competition

Switching from shortstop to catcher as a junior in 2011 did not slow down Marston’s hitting, as she batted .295 on the season and had 10 multi-hit games - both good for third-best on the squad. She was one of the most disciplined batters in the nation with a 0.77 walks per game average that ranked 22nd-best in the country. Her junior campaign earned her Second Team All-Big 12 recognition. Marston was a First Team All-Big 12 shortstop as a freshman (2010) and sophomore (2011). In her final season at shortstop, the slugger batted .311 with 15 doubles to accumulate 20 RBI. As a freshman, she was honored to the All-Midwest Region Second Team.  Additionally, during the summer of 2010, Marston was selected to play for the USA National Women’s Baseball Team, who competed in the IBAF Women’s Baseball World Cup in Venezuela. Marston was selected to the All-Tournament Team after posting the second highest batting average during the tournament (.593) and leading all tournament competitors with 16 hits and eight doubles.
