Classroom

Jeremy Colvin is a member of the Woodrow Wilson School of Public & International Affairs and is on track to earn a dual certificate in both information technology policy and statistics and machine learning. His independent coursework includes a senior thesis entitled “Data Vulnerability and Privacy Practices in the Era of GDPR;” the presentation of a paper entitled “Telecommunication Infrastructure as an Instrument Against Political Instability” at the Pentagon in 2017; and “Democracy Under Cyberattack: Implications of Cyberwarfare in Democratic State” and “Investigating the Statistical Effects of Media on Public Perception on Crime Rates.” He is also proficient in programming including SQL, R, Java and ArcGIS.

Character

Colvin is the treasurer of the University Cottage Club at Princeton University, is proficient in Spanish, is CPR-certified and was a licensed USSF referee. A second-degree black belt in Taekwondo, he won two gold medals at the Junior Olympics. This past summer he was an Operations Research Intern with the Department of Defense where he conducted statistical cost analysis on Army programs relating to cyber capabilities and aviation software. He also built predictive tools in R to streamline independent cost estimates and handle large data sets and briefed Pentagon officials on cost analysis reports and labor wage escalation. He spent the summer of 2017 as the Aerospace Defense Policy and Analysis Intern at Orbital ATK.

Community

Colvin is the founder of Free Kick Clinic based out of Houston. Free Kick is a nonprofit designed to help under-insured soccer players get medical attention they cannot afford. He personally conducted direct outreach to physicians to donate their treatment and medical equipment. Colvin is also an officer in the Princeton chapter of Best Buddies: a nonprofit aimed at enhancing the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. He also participates in Reading with the Tigers at local elementary schools in the area. Along with the team, he is involved in Friends of Jaclyn—which improves the quality of life for a child with cancer—through the team’s “adoption” of Derek in 2013.

Competition

A second-team All-Ivy League selection, Colvin led the Princeton men’s soccer team in scoring last year as a junior, totaling 13 points on five goals and three assists. As of nomination time, in 51 career games, he had made 24 starts with seven goals and eight assists for 22 points.
