Classroom

Kelso is a Biology major with a cumulative GPA of 3.52 who will graduate in May 2014. He has earned Dean’s List honors after every college semester and was named a Capital One Academic All-District First-Team selection in 2013. His possible post-graduate interests include Marine Biology, Marine Biomedicine, Medical School. He was named to the MAAC All-Academic Team in 2013.

Character

After being cut twice from the baseball team at another school during his freshman year of college, he played the 2011 spring season at Niagara County Community College. Entering that season he had no Division I offers.

Community

Kelso helped organize the Fall 2013 Red Cross Blood Drive at Canisius, which almost the whole team also participated in. He has also participated in the Light the Night Walk (2013), Meals on Wheels (2011 and 2012), Habitat for Humanity (2011) and volunteered for Tim Horton’s Children’s Foundation in 2011.

Competition

Kelso played for the 2013 MAAC Champions, the team won a conference title and played in the NCAA Tournament for first time in program history. He was named First-Team All-MAAC in 2013. As a junior, ranked second in the MAAC in walks, fourth in runs scored, tied for fifth in RBI. In 2013, he hit .292 with 44 runs scored, nine 2B, four 3B, four HR, 39 RBI, 36 BB, .429 OBP. Last year, tied for team lead with four outfield assists last season and tied for program record in career triples.
