Classroom

Ashworth maintains a 3.46 GPA in sociology and he’s a three-time Academic All-Summit League selection. He’s also been picked to The Summit League’s Commissioner’s List for Academic Excellence each of the past two years, as well as making the Academic Advisor’s List at IUPUI in five of his six semesters.

Character

Ashworth is a consummate good teammate. He consistently fills the role necessary to make the team better. He played primarily at shooting guard his first two years before moving to the point his junior season, and the Jags have been a better team because of it. Additionally, Ashworth was named a team captain heading into his senior year and is unquestionably one of the leaders of the Jaguars’ program.

Community

Ashworth’s community service has been a huge part of his IUPUI career. He has been a major part of head coach Ron Hunter’s partnership with Samaritan’s Feet as Ashworth has traveled to Peru and Costa Rica to help distribute shoes to needy children. During the Peru trip, Ashworth posted blog entries for the school’s website and local media, helping generate additional publicity for the initiative. Locally, he’s also contributed to shoe distributions and clinics, benefiting needy children in the Indianapolis area.

Competition

In his junior season, Ashworth led The Summit League in assist-to-turnover ratio, which included 166 assists — the fourth highest single-season total in school history. He started every game last season and led the Jaguars in total minutes played while averaging 4.5 points, 4.6 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game. IUPUI has gone 67-32 during Ashworth’s three years in the program.
