Classroom

A history major with a 3.405 GPA, Jon Perrin is a three-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team selection and has been named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll seven times. Perrin has also earned the OSU Academic Achievement Award four times and has twice been named to the OSU Dean’s Honor Roll.

Character

Perrin has proven to be one of the hardest-working Cowboys during his four seasons in Stillwater and transformed himself from a seldom-used reliever into OSU’s ace starter. Despite being drafted by the Detroit Tigers in last year’s Major League Baseball Draft, Perrin chose to return to school for his senior season and help the Cowboys defend their Big 12 championship and contend for the College World Series.

Perrin had offseason surgery last fall but worked hard to return and was in OSU’s starting pitching rotation on the opening weekend of the 2015 season.

Community

Perrin has given countless hours of his time to serving the community. He has volunteered for several Coaches vs. Cancer events, while also serving the Salvation Army, Special Olympics and Faith Mission.

Competition

Perrin has appeared in more than 50 games in his four seasons as a Cowboy and entered his senior season with a career 12-5 record and 2.71 ERA. As a junior, Perrin had a breakout season as he became OSU’s Friday-night starter and earned All-Big 12 First Team and ABCA All-Midwest Region Second Team honors. The right-hander went 8-5 with a 2.38 ERA in 21 games, tossed two complete game shutouts and struck out 81 in 102.0 innings of work. He finished the season ranking in the top 10 in the Big 12 in wins, ERA, strikeouts, shutouts, innings pitched and complete games. With Perrin leading the way, OSU won 48 games a year ago, which included winning the program’s first-ever Big 12 regular season championship and advancing to the third NCAA Super Regional in program history. The Cowboys finished the season ranked 10th in the national rankings.
