Josh Hawkinson graduated in just three years (May 2016) with a 3.33 GPA and a degree in management operations within the college of business. He is currently working on his master’s in business administration. Hawkinson is a a two-time Pac-12 All-Academic honoree and was a CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team honoree in 2015-16.

Character

Hawkinson is in his second year as a team captain. In the summer of 2015, he attended “captain’s camp” with is teammates to try and improve his leadership skills. He’s been Washington State’s representative at Pac-12 Men’s Basketball Media Day the last two seasons, serving as a great ambassador for Cougar men’s basketball.

Community

Hawkinson has served as a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC). He also helps at many WSU community events, including Butch’s Bash, an event held each December for children in the Pullman community. In the summer of 2014, Hawkinson traveled on a service and basketball trip with USA Eagles.

Competition

Hawkinson is on pace to become the first Cougar to join the 1,000-1,000 club with 1,000 career points and rebounds. He holds the WSU single-season record with 334 rebounds, set in 2014-15, and set the third-best mark in 2015-16. Each of the last two years, Hawkinson has finished the season as the Pac-12’s rebounding and double-doubles leader, as well as ranked in the top-12 nationally for rebounds per game and total double-doubles. He’s a two-time All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention honoree and was the 2014-15 Most Improved Player of the Year for the league.
