Classroom

Meents is an Operations Research Major who will go into the United States Air Force Scientific Analyst Career Field. His graduation date is May 28, 2008. He has a GPA of 3.62 in his major, a cumulative GPA of 3.35 and is in the top 25% of his graduating class. He has been on the Dean’s List every semester since he has been on campus. He is ranked in the top third in his major, has been named All-Academic All-Conference three times and was named CoSIDA/ESPN All-Academic All-District in 2006

Character

Meents holds several Squadron Leadership positions including Squadron Assistant, Director of Operations, Logistics Officer, and Element Leader. He is the summer program facilitator for Children’s Falcon Sports Camps, is a member of the Leadership Reaction Course Cadre. He is the team leader and senior captain on the baseball team who is successful even with his classroom workload and military obligations. He has learned to jump out of airplanes and to skydive solo. He earned the team award for Most Improved in Strength and Conditioning and the Wing Athlete of the Month in February 2006. He has worked hard to play and succeed at several different positions during his Academy baseball career. He has been the Squadron Class Representative for the Combined Federal Campaign charity.

Community

Josh has participated in team hospital visitations and welcoming Home Ft. Carson Army Troops from their deployment to Iraq. He has visited with children at Beale AFB with a Summer baseball team (Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox) and participated in the Midnight Walk for Cancer in Marysville, Calif. He volunteers at local youth baseball venues with local high school players while in his hometown. He also hosts many Academy tours for prospective high school students.

Competition

The lone three-year letterwinner on the team and a two-year starter at catcher, Meents has played in 106 career games, making 80 starts. He was second on the team with seven home runs and third with 25 RBI as a sophomore and started 38 of 43 games played as a junior. Has nine career home runs and 37 RBI. As a sophomore, he hit grand slams in consecutive games against Indiana State and Utah Valley. As a pitcher has appeared in 15 games, making seven starts. Pitched in 14 games, making seven starts as a sophomore.
