Marcano earned his mechanical engineering degree from NJIT’s prestigious Honors College last May with a 3.7 GPA and is on pace to finish his masters in the same major this spring. He had a 3.75 GPA during the first semester of of the masters program.

Marcano, a 2021 America East All-Academic selection, has already accepted a job and will work at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab following graduation.

Character

Marcano is a three-year team captain for the Highlanders.

Last season, when the team’s starting shortstop went down to injury, Marcano stepped up and helped the team by sliding into the spot.

Community

Marcano has made an impact in the community in several places across the country. Since coming to Newark five years ago, Marcano has volunteered at The Community FoodBank of New Jersey and for the Susan G. Koman Foundation. Additionally, he dedicated his time to help at the HACK NJIT Programming Event and mentored local high school students as part of NJIT’s Robotics Club. In the summers of 2019 and 2021, Marcano played in the Cape Cod Summer League and dedicated many afternoons to the local Cape Cod Community, reading to children and offering his time at baseball clinics.

Competition

Marcano earned a spot on the All-America East first team after leading NJIT to their first-ever NCAA Tournament. He was also named second team All-Region after leading the conference in most of its offensive categories.

Once Marcano’s career has completed, he will own most of the Highlander’s offensive records.
