In 2017, Garcia tied the program’s single-season record for appearances with 33 for the season. He finished the season 2-1 with a 3.02 ERA and 56 strikeouts in 41.2 innings. He struck out four or more batters in six different relief appearances while tallying two saves for the season. He threw a career-high five strikeouts in 2.2 innings of relief against Georgia State (May 13) while picking up the win. He threw a career-high 3.2 innings, struck out four and allowed nothing as he picked up his first save against Texas State (April 8). His final save of the season came against Central Arkansas (April 25) at Dickey-Stephens Park as he struck out four and allowed just one walk.
