Classroom

Mutts graduated from Delaware, earning his undergraduate degree in psychology. He also completed a Master’s in Agricultural and Life Sciences at Virginia Tech this May, where he carried a 3.67 GPA.

Mutts is currently pursuing a second Master’s in Educational Psychology, Curriculum, and Instruction, which he will complete next spring.

He has made the AD’s Honor Roll in each semester at Virginia Tech so far.

Character

Mutts was named a team captain this season. He demonstrates extremely high character and integrity while proving to be a leader for both the team and athletic department.

He has participated in the Unity Walk hosted by Virginia Tech’s SAAC, which highlights unity and continues to drive conversation for social justice.

Community

Mutts is actively involved with MY Turn, Coach Young’s non-profit organization that focuses on bullying prevention.

During the 2021 NCAA Tournament, Mutts took time out of his schedule to read to local elementary school kids over Zoom. In addition, Mutts assisted with wrapping and delivering Christmas gifts for the local Women’s Resource Center the past two December’s.

Competition

Entering his second season for Virginia Tech, Mutts is poised for a breakout. He scored at least nine points in 11 of the Hokies’ 14 games from last December through the end of the campaign while reaching 20 points twice.

Mutts was a critical piece of the puzzle last year, as he finished as the team’s fourth-leading scorer (9.5) and second-leading rebounder (6.4).
