Classroom

Johnson is a three-time ACC All-Academic Team selection (2015, 2016, 2017) and a three-time member of the ACC Honor Roll (2015, 2016, 2017). Johnson is one of nine recipients of the Weaver-James-Corrigan honorary award presented by the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), which recognizes student-athletes who plan to pursue professional careers in their respective sports instead of enrolling in graduate school.

Character

Johnson is a remarkable young man who has all the characteristics that are ideal not only in a student-athlete but also in a young adult. He is smart, kind, hard-working, dedicated and thoughtful, and he faces challenges head on but does it with class, determination and integrity.

Community

Johnson has volunteered and helped with a number of community outreach events with SAAC each year including the Michael Isenhour Toy Drive and ice skating with kids with special needs. He also has worked and volunteered at numerous baseball camps during his time at Georgia Tech.

Competition

Johnson has a long list of recognition in his years at Georgia Tech including the following: 2017 NCBWA Preseason All-American (second team), 2017 Collegiate Baseball Preseason All-American (third team), 2017 Perfect Game Preseason ACC All-Conference, 2017 Golden Spikes Award watch list member, 2016 ACC First Team All-Conference, 2015 Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American, 2015 D1Baseball Freshman All-American (second team), and the 2015 ACC All-Freshman Team. As of nomination time, he ranks just outside the top-20 for career home runs in Tech history (33 home runs). Johnson competed in the TD AmeritradeCollege Home Run Derby in July 2015 and reached the semifinals after belting a Home Run Derby record 17 homers in the first round.
